The final version of the documentation for Maya is still under construction. This temporary version is based on the Blender documentation, though its contents is relevant to Maya as well (both variants use the analogical UI).
Vulkan GPU Acceleration
Starting from version 3.3.0, UVPackmaster supports packing on GPU using also the Vulkan API (alongside with Cuda). Note that Cuda is still the default API to use on all NVidia GPUs - UVPackmaster doesn’t list NVidia GPUs as supporting Vulkan. Vulkan can be used to accelerate packing on AMD Radeon GPUs.
Contrary to Cuda, Vulkan devices are disabled by default. In order to enable a device:
-
Go to the Add-on Preferences multi panel:
-
Check the Enabled check box next to a Vulkan device name:
-
Press the Save Preferences button to make the change permanent.
Current limitations
- Vulkan is currently supported on Windows and Linux only. Support for Macs will be added in future releases.
- Vulkan devices doesn’t currently support the Groups Together packing mode but keep in mind UVPackmaster will automatically switch to a packing device which supports the mode when needed (e.g. the CPU device).
